- Do allow your child to use the potty as often as they like. You should never discourage them from trying.
- Make sure to wait until your boy is ready. Look for signs he is ready to go. Some signs include staying dry for at least two hours, understanding when he is wet or poopy, and asking to go.

- When potty training little boys make sure they are dressed appropriately. They should not have shirts that button between their legs or that can hang into the toilet. Avoid overalls and other clothing that is difficult for your son to get on and off.
- If you have set up an award system make sure it is reasonable. If you give your child a new toy every time it will get expensive, or if you give them sweets it could get unhealthy. A small item or candy (ie smartie, M&M) will be just fine.
