Baby Names Suitable For Both Baby Boys and Baby Girls

With the number of baby names that can found in various references nowadays, some parents still opt to choose something different and unique for their babies. While some parents resort to unique names or choose names that are rarely used, some parents simply create modifications and sway a little from the conventional in naming their little ones thus choosing a baby boy name to name a baby girl. Some baby names are interesting, some tell a story of how it came about, some mean something to the parents and thus want to share the name with their babies to preserve or keep a memory. There are various reasons for every choice, like choosing to name your baby girl Alex, Frankie or Danny.

Nowadays, baby boy names are also being used to name baby girls. But it is rare for a boy to be named something girly or feminine. Just like the idea of girls wearing pants just like the boys, or girls engaged with boxing and basketball which used to be sports for men, girls having boy names is becoming a fast trend. Some mothers find this idea a good variation because it certifies uniqueness without having the need to choose uncommon names.

Some baby boy names or masculine names used these days to name a baby girl are; Donnie, Gabby, Alex, Frankie, Ritchie and Wilson. Some boy or male names undergo a little modification in their spelling and pronunciation in order to create a more feminine touch such as Gabriel for a boy and Gabrielle or Gabriella for a girl, Noel for a boy and Noelle for a girl; Daniel for a baby boy and Danielle for baby girl, Alex for baby boy and Allex or Ahlex for baby girl. There a lot of ways to apply creativity in coming up with an excellent name for your baby.

Another modification is making baby boy’s name sound girl by adding the suffix – la or adding the letter A at the end of the name making it suitable for a baby girl. Example is Gabriel, adding the suffix -la would make it sound more feminine, it becomes Gabriella. Daniel becomes Daniella, Lowell becomes a baby girl’s name by adding -la making it Lowella, Alex can become Alexa or Alexia with a little more modification, Robert becomes Roberta, Albert becomes Alberta and so on. This modification is sometimes used to name fraternal twins, choosing names that make a nice pair.

Baby Clothes Buying Guide for Dads

Looking after young child involves managing a variety of tasks; one of the more pleasurable among these is buying baby clothes. However, shopping for children’s clothes requires careful thought. While selecting baby clothes, always check whether they are:

?b>Functional: Obviously, looks will play a big role in the baby clothes you pick up. However, always keep practicalities in mind too. Select baby clothes that are easy to put on and take off. This is especially important in young children who will require frequent diaper changing. As a dad, beware of pants and outfits that require a lot of snaps and buttons. Moms have patience for these added nuisances. Dads will often just leave them undone because no one will notice anyway.

?b>Comfortable: Numerous fashionable accessories may make your child look adorable. However, in the wrong places, they may be uncomfortable, and could even hurt your child. While picking up baby clothes consider how buttons, ribbons, and other attachments might irritate your baby and avoid buying these.

?b>Weather-appropriate: Keep seasonal conditions in mind while buying your baby’s clothes. There is no point smothering your baby in woolens during hot weather, or buying skimpy dresses for winter wear. In areas with wide variations in temperature, moms spend a lot of time organizing baby clothes inventory around the growth of the baby and the approaching season.

?b>Alterable: Young children outgrow their clothes very quickly. This means that you may have to routinely discard perfectly good baby clothes that have hardly been worn. Instead, it may be better to buy baby clothes that are a little bigger, or can be easily altered, so that they can last your child a little longer. This is a practical solution and will save your time, effort, and money.

The New Baby, And The Firstborn

Yes, the new baby IS going to stay forever.

No, we will NOT trade the new baby for a puppy.

No matter how excited your first child seems to be about the new baby, there will come a time when he or she decides that maybe a baby brother or sister was not such a good idea. It’s natural and normal, and it will pass, (though will occasionally come back again throughout the lives of all siblings).

All the preparations you made to help the first child adjust to the idea of a new brother or sister, are going to forgotten by the child the first time that the new baby interrupts attention that used to be reserved just for him, or her.

They will not remember how fun it was to pick out the name, or the toys, or the cute little clothes. They won’t recall how exciting it was to feel the baby move inside Mommy’s tummy, or to hold the new baby.

They will remember when they didn’t have to share their toys, or their room. They will recall when they got to sit on Daddy’s lap during a story, and when they didn’t have to be quiet all the time because there was no baby who might wake up.

Jealousy is natural for small children and for older kids too. There are ways to help the children cope with their feelings, and to feel better about sharing you, and their lives.

Make time just for the first child, when the new baby will not interrupt. Mom takes the older child for a walk, while Dad stays home with the baby, and take turns. This also gives the new baby undivided attention from each parent as well.

Share the acts of caring for the baby with the older child, let them pick out an outfit, or hold a bottle for the baby.

Talk to them about all the ways the baby makes the family stronger, and better. Such as that, every person in the family means that there is more love in the family.

Be patient, and understanding. Eventually the older child will not only accept their new sibling, but love the new baby too. The wanting a puppy, that never goes away.

How to Choose a Great Baby Name

My wife recently gave birth to our first child. We were very excited when we found out that she was pregnant, and we were ready to start our family. We began preparing early for our son, decorating the nursery, buying baby clothes, and reading baby books. However, one of the most important things that we did to prepare for our son抯 birth was choosing a baby name.

Your baby抯 name will be with them forever. Your child can be teased, or picked on their entire life depending on the name that you give them. Many names carry great meaning, but they could bring turmoil throughout your child抯 life if they are teased. Although a name can cause teasing, it can also give a child character, and may even lead to greatness. Do you think that Dick Butkus would have been a Hall of Fame middle linebacker if his name were John Smith?

My wife looked through a large book of baby names, and secretly wrote down the names for a boy and a girl that she liked. Then she asked me to go through the same book and write down the names that I liked without letting her know which baby names I had chosen. After I was finished with my list my wife revealed her list and we looked for names that we had in common. Amazingly enough we had almost one third of our lists in common. We knew that this short list of baby names would contain the name that we would ultimately choose. The best thing to do after this is to look at the meanings of all of the names that are on the short list to help decide which name has the best meaning for your child. You also want to pronounce your baby抯 name with your last name, and also with their middle name, if you are going to give them one. Usually at least half of the list that is left does not have a meaning that you like, or does not sound good with their middle or last name, so you can mark them off of the list. After all of these tips have been used, you have the hard decision of choosing a baby name. Just remember this will be much easier than the first six weeks after your baby is born, and you have all of those sleepless nights.

Unusual Baby Names – A Popular Trend

Parents today seem to be favoring unusual baby names. At one point in history, over half of the children born were given popular names. No more. Today’s trend is to break with the traditional. Your picking a name because you love it, not because of what everybody else thinks of it.

A name is central to a child’s earliest sense of identity. It’s often the first word he or she learns to read and write. Naming trends of today are defined by celebrities, literary classics, and even name brands. Look no further than your favorite book, car, or brand for baby name ideas. Names like “Armani”, “Del Monte”, “Infiniti”, “Celica”, “Chevy”, and “Lexus” are increasing in popularity.

So, how do you go about finding an unusual baby name? Believe it or not, celebrities are a great source of unusual baby names. There has recently been a major trend amongst celebrities choosing unusual names for their children. Julia Roberts named her twins Hazel and Phinnaeus. Demi Moore and Bruce Willis are the parents of Rumer Glenn, Scout LaRue and Tallulah Belle. Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay singer Chris Martin recently named their child Apple. Sylvester Stallone has given his children the names Sage Moonblood and Sistine Rose. Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette are the proud parents of Coco and John Travolta and Kelly Preston named their boy Jett.

While you may not want to be quite this unusual, a creative name gives your child a unique identity and distinguishes them from all the James, John’s, and Jacob’s.

You can also get some great baby naming ideas from other countries. In Ireland, some of the most popular baby names are Cian, Dylan, and Conor. Germany likes the names Felix and Lucas while Norway prefers Andrian, Sander, and Tobias.

You could even make up your own baby names! Here are some tips on how to come up with original names.

Create a name from two names. You can combine two names that you really like. If you really like Sarah and Beth, you could combine them to form Sarah-Beth. If you like David and Daniel, you could form Daviel.

You could also start spelling names backward to come up with some unique combinations.

Another common technique that is being used is giving a traditional name a different spelling. So David might turn into Dayvid or Sierra could be Cyera.

You might also want to consider naming your child after cities, street names, or landmarks. Montanna, Everest, Shea, Austin, and Dakota all make for great baby names.

Whether you choose a name that expresses family loyalty and tradition or your own flare and originality, it is sure to be an exciting milestone. Take some time to choose a name that your child will enjoy for a lifetime. A name is forever.

Why Only Baby Boy Names?

Dear friends,

Guess, no happiness can match the feeling of becoming a parent. It’s quite understandable that a mom loves her child may be because she has been carrying her baby for over nine long months and during this period she feels her baby day in and day out. The little movements of her limbs (I have referred the child here as “her”), her heart beats, sometimes kicking and pushing movements against her belly all add to the emotional involvement of the mom to her baby. And finally, the un-bearable pain associated with the delivery of the baby makes her a perfect ‘god’s gift’ to the mother!

But, strangely the father of the baby also finds this ‘god’s gift’ extremely beautiful, may be un-paralleled! And why not? The baby brings in so much of happiness and joy all around her. It’s like magic and it’s beyond comparison. Guess, only who have become parents can feel the ecstasy of being parents. May God, shower this happiness to all those who have been dying to become parents…amen!

And does it really matter whether she is a baby boy or baby girl?

Think again!!!

Those you have actually read this article, I would like to know from them that after having a girl child in their hands for the first time, how did they feel? Did they feel that it would have been better had they had a boy child? Didn’t that child delight you amazingly, a feeling that probably, can’t be expressed in words!

I am really curious to know how important is the gender of a new born baby, because for me, the happiness is boundless and all it takes is a innocent baby, gender being irrelevant.

Cheers!

Below we provide you with some tips which can help making the selection of choosing a unique name for your child a little easier. Remember it is important that you choose one that not only you as the expectant parents like but that your child will be proud of as they grow older.

Tip 1 – Avoid those types of names which are going to be difficult to spell. Remember a name which may be cute when they are five may not be when they reach their teenager or early adult years.

Tip 2 – If you choose to go for a foreign name then select one which you are sure of its origins. Look for names that although foreign are often well recognized such as Jose, Esteban, Concepcion, Feliza or Ludwig.

Tip 3 – Why not experiment and join your name with your partners and see what this comes up with. You don’t need to use all the letters in each of the expectant parent’s names but rather make up a combination of some of them.

Tip 5 – Why not go for a traditional name but in order to make it unique change the way in which it is spelled. You can either add, change or take away a couple of letters in the name. For example change Emily to Emilie or Alison to Allison or David to Davyd.

Tip 6 – But if you don’t want to cause problems for your child in later life then why not stick with a more traditional first name and go for something a little more unique with their second or middle one. But before you make the final decision say the name out loud several times to see how it sounds and feels before making the decision to select the name.

But which ever unique baby name you do choose for your child it is important to remember it is their name and not yours. Remember this is a name they will have to live with for the rest of their lives unless they decide to change it later on. So take your time and say it several times to see how it sounds and feels to you before you make the final decision and get this placed on their birth certificate.
