Memorial Day Party – Remembering Those That We Have Lost

Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day was set aside each day to honor American Civil War soldiers who had lost their lives in battle, by decorating their graves. The holiday is celebrated the last Monday each May all over the nation, with Memorial Day parties of various types.

In the year 1966, Waterloo, New York was named the official birthplace of Memorial Day, and in current times, the official Memorial Day Celebration is held at Arlington National Cemetery, where the acting Vice President of The United States places a memorial wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier. Though many people still include grave decoration in their Memorial Day Celebrations, many people celebrate in a variety of other ways as well, and various types of Memorial Day Parties are held all over the country.

When families gather together to celebrate what is, for many the first real holiday of the season, this year will be, for most Americans, especially poignant. Consider incorporating flower arrangement into at least a small part of the cooking out and spending time in the fun and sun, to honor the soldiers throughout time who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and taking them to local cemeteries to place upon the graves.

In the mean time, even if you don’t have a grill or a pool, you can still enjoy the health benefits of grilling and the wonderful flavors we all enjoy, by taking large clay or terracotta flower pots, filling them approximately half full of sand, placing a layer of hot coals on top, and laying skewered kabobs of meats, veggies, or fruits that have been seasoned and marinated over the pots until the food it done, and enjoy the taste of outdoors at your Memorial Day Party!

Planning The Best Blues Clues Party For Your Child

To plan for a Blues Clues Party, start out by finding some pre made cards of the Blues Clues characters. These should be readily available with most online party suppliers. Can抰 find any and have good home printer? Then find some good graphics of your child抯 favorite characters online. Or, look for some paper or cards that have some dog prints on them!

Take this farther with the Blues Clues Party and have all of your guests dress in blue or their favorite Blues Clues clothing. See if your local grocery store sells jellybeans in just one color, blue of course! These can be a great favor for the children to munch on while the party is going on.

Decorating for the Blues Clues Party will be easy, with balloons in all shades of blue. Remember, Blue has friends too, so Green Puppy and Magenta can make an appearance, too! You might even be able to find some actual characters in balloons. For a party inside, place some large paw prints leading up the side walk and up into the house. Cover your main door with blue paper and have a sign with Blue himself welcoming guests.

For activities for the Blues Clues Party, have the kids make a headband with dog ears made of blue paper. Or, make up a puppy a scavenger hunt. You should even find a Blues Clues cake pan. You could make a couple cakes for your party, with blue frosting.

Make sure that you have some extra help during your Blues Clues Party, more so if you’re going to be outside. This way you aren’t running around doing everything yourself but enjoying your party, too. There are plenty of ways to enjoy this theme for a child抯 birthday. Think puppy! Think blue! And, of course, have lots of fun!

Tough Guy Crafts for a Motorcycle Rally

If you love a motorcycle rally, then you may also like the crafts that can go along with them. Some people think that crafts for such an event are out of place. After all, most bikers portray themselves as tough guys or gals. Still, not all crafts are about flowers and macram? You can have fun motorcycle crafts that you won’t be afraid to show all of your motorcycle buddies.

One of the best motorcycle rally crafts is to make your own shirt. These t shirts should be black of a similar dark color. If you identify yourself as a different name when you ride, or you have named your bike, you can put this information on the shirt. Adding a picture of a motorcycle or similar imagery will also make it look great. For guys, you may want to cut off the sleeves of the shirt to make it even more fitting for a biker to wear.

Another motorcycle rally craft that you can make is homemade beer. This should only be done if you don’t plan on doing any riding while you’re there. There are a lot of kits that help you brew beer in your own home. There are even directions online if you don’t want to buy a kit. Then, you can show off your creation at the motorcycle rally. Your friends and fellow bikers will surely be jealous at the drink that you created. Be sure to have a fun time and to not be ashamed of the things you make.

Baby on Board Shower Party Ideas

Everyone loves a baby! Even more fun is the anticipation of the birth, even if the sex is known. To plan your Baby Shower, decide if you will be needing pink, blue or a non-gender color like green or yellow for your decorations. The color can coordinate with another theme, or strictly be left on its own.

Baby showers require invitations. The party supply planning store will have many different styles to choose from. They can belong to a theme or be a plain one you pick out, or even a postcard format. What抯 important is the date, time and where the expectant mother is registered at.

There are a ton of games to play at a baby shower. Whether the sex is known or not, make a copy of the ultrasound picture for every guest. They can play two games with the pictures: name the baby and guess the baby抯 sex, weight and length. Their guesses can all be recorded into a book for use after baby is born to determine a winner! They can keep the picture as a momento and put in a frame if they like.

Other fun games to play include taste testing baby food. Remove all of the labels off and have everyone taste a sample and try to name it. Another thinking games involves trivia. Pick TV shows from the past and present and have them list all of the children from each show.

Favors for all of the games can include candles, lotions or craft items. Decorations can be minimal or cover the entire room or house in your chosen color. Balloons, streamers and wall hangings can be used in a house, church hall or restaurant private room. If you are serving food, a party supply store will have all of the necessary paper products and utensils for easy clean up.

A 90s Theme Could Help You To Relive The Recent Past

Parties that incorporate the insignia of an era in time are always good choices for costume parties such as a 90s theme. A 90s theme party would work well as a costume party. Consider having everyone bring their favorite 90s CD. Play music from these CDs. Just be sure to include in your invitation the request for each guest to bring their favorite, and you may want to include a few extras just in case guests forget, and host a character guessing contest, where each person present gets a number, sheet of paper, and pen. Each person gets to come up and act out the character they have dressed as. At the end of the game, both the character who had the most correct guesses and the guest who guessed the most characters correctly wins a prize.

A 90s theme party would be a great opportunity to recognize the computer era. Personal computers were really becoming affordable in early 1990, and were being seen more and more in homes everywhere. A great game would be obscure computer, history, and television trivia. Just remember terms like ‘dot matrix’ and MS Dos. Include 90s clothing and hairstyles, and you have a 90s theme party to remember.

Grunge, President Clinton, and 90s music were the major earmarks of this period of time. You could incorporate grunge and gansta rap, long chain wallets, baggy pants, and all the grunge you can muster. Serve all the junk food you can think of, and even consider working in some of your favorite 90s movies, characters, or computer based game contests to round out the evening’s entertainment.

You need to ask a guest to come up and pick up pieces of paper from the two bowls with the name of the individual as well as the command. Then you can ask your guest to perform the command such as 揥iggle Like A Fish? 揥alk Like A Crab? 揜oar Like A Lion?etc. It would turn the air into laughter and fun. Have Yourself a Frugal Little Christmas

Your June wedding and honeymoon are behind you. You and your new spouse have set budgets for how much you will spend for the Christmas season on each other and on friends and relatives. You even wisely started setting aside time and money to get those gifts before the crowds started invading the shopping malls and discount stores.

Suddenly, you realize that although you listed Christmas decorations on your original wedding registry, you only received two “Our first Christmas” ornaments. They are beautiful, but two ornaments won’t go very far in decorating.

You have been good about not using credit cards too much, something you agreed about even before the wedding. You are like minded in regards to credit. You don’t want to use it except for large purchases, ones that you both agree as necessary. Christmas decorations don’t really fall into the rules and guidelines you placed upon your finances.

What to do? Well, perhaps it is time to think about two things: being frugal and creative and establishing new traditions.

Having little money to decorate should not deter you from decorating, nor from doing so together. Perhaps getting creative together, while keeping the budget guidelines in place, will help you create a few new traditions. Can you make decorations?

Hidden in your closet are six large picture frames that you are not using. Wrapping them in Christmas paper and attaching fancy bows will make some thrifty d閏or. Those wrapped “packages” will look festive when they’re hanging on your apartment walls.

You were able to find a rather cheap (almost tacky) four-foot tall Christmas tree. Rather than being discouraged by how it looks while empty, both of you start thinking about how you can make that tree come to life with homemade decorations.

Need some suggestions?

How about…

1) Popped corn strung on a string for garlands. (They used to do that in your grandparents or great-grandparents time.)

2) You have some potpourri and netting left over from your wedding favors. Make those same favors, but instead of the white bows, attach either red or green ones and hang those on the tree.

3) Make sugar cookies and decorate with red and green sugar or with icing and other candy pieces. Wrap in cellophane and hang on the tree.

4) Two strands of lights should be enough for that puny tree. Just make sure you go to the dollar store to purchase them. While you’re there, you might find a few unique ornaments to place among the homemade ones.

5) Don’t forget to buy some candy canes. They’re pretty cheap Christmas tree decorations.

6) You wondered why you kept all those cute stuffed animals? Why not put some on the tree?

7) Remember those paper snowflakes you made as kids? Bring out the paper and scissors and get busy.

8) Other garlands can be cheaply made from cranberries or even from some hard candies tied together.

9) The dollar store or craft store will have some cheap jingle bells you can make into ornaments.

10) How about printing some pictures of your loved ones on your computer, cutting the pictures into circles and making those into ornaments?

You get the idea. If you do some brainstorming, you’ll discover all kinds of inexpensive decorations you can make for your tree. And the doing will be just as much (or more) fun than seeing the finished product. A new tradition has been established, and it is one you can continue once there are little ones available to help.

Throwing A Fun Filled Dora The Explorer Party

Throwing a Dora the Explorer party should be fun, for you and your guests! Send out your invites two to three weeks in advance. If you can’t find the right invites, make them. Use bright paper and have on the front that Dora invites them to explore a birthday party with her! Find or make a map to your home inside with your child.

For a party of mostly young girls, get some old dress up clothing. Have them ready when the guests arrive. They can pick and choose and wear their new clothing during the party. If you don抰 have any good older clothing, head to a local thrift shop, they should have a lot of items for not that much. Girls adore dress up.

For more Dora the Explorer ideas for your party, have the kids make some bracelets. All you need are some pony beads and some string. Make sure that you have some extra help on hand for this activity.

Those that want something a bit more extravagant get some small backpacks and flll them with items that Dora the Explorer carries around. Don’t forget the Map! Or get one larger one and fill it with interesting ideas. Have the kids pass the backpack around and have them take one object from it. Consider having the children go on an adventure using a map to find different activities throughout your backyard.

For a great Dora the Explorer party, you look into getting a Dora the Explorer pi馻ta. If don’t want to go with a pi馻ta, read a Dora the Explorer story to everyone while they have cake! Most of all make sure that everyone has fun and has a great time! With this theme of a party, it shouldn’t be any problem at all!

Throw a Sweet 16 Party She’ll Never Forget

Turning sixteen is a huge milestone for teenage girls and having a Sweet 16 Party is a terrific way to celebrate. In many states when someone turns sixteen they often get a license to drive, but turning sixteen also symbolizes growth and independence into adulthood.

A Sweet 16 party is generally thrown for young women coming of age. It is customary to have a Sweet 16 dance party where boys and girls can get together to celebrate. For some, this may be the first dance experience with members of the opposite sex. Make sure the guest list is comprised of both boys and girls. Ask the guest of honor if she would solely like classmates to attend the party or if she would like to invite teammates from out of school sports or members from her church youth group.

A great game at a Sweet 16 party would be to play trivia. Divide the guests into teams to see how sharp they are with current events. Instead of making this out to be a political science lesson like at school, have the questions revolve around current pop culture events. Before the party, gather a tabloid or two and check some internet Hollywood websites. Read up on topics interest teenagers. At the party, hand out answer sheets and read the questions aloud. The team who gets the most correct wins! Personalized party favors will make a lasting memory for the guests and guest of honor.

Celebrate your teen抯 peak teenage years by throwing a Sweet 16 party to remember!
